About the smart meter rollout
The UK’s energy sector has been set a target to offer smart electricity and gas meters to all consumers (approx 52 million) across the UK by 2024, as part of a Government initiative to lower our carbon footprint and to help reduce household energy bills.
NPower were, along with all UK energy suppliers, in the process of installing brand new SMETS2 (cross-supplier compatible) smart meters in their customers’ homes, as well as upgrading SMETS1 (first generation) meters to the newer SMETS2 technology.
About Npower
Npower (now E.ON Next) was a UK energy supplier providing gas and electricity to residential customers across the UK.
