Insurance Case Study
Delivering technology transformation on the central authoritative record of all insured vehicles in the UK.
Case study background
We worked on the MID in 2015 (which has since been replaced with a cloud solution), providing delivery services to Experian to ensure the success of user interface enhancements and back-end upgrades to its technology platforms.
Key challenges
At the outset, a significant delivery challenge was the lack of visibility of the key project risks and issues, and where they existed within the solution. We conducted technical-focused and business-driven risk assessment reviews to uncover these, and to gauge their likelihood and impact of occurrence, so we could mitigate accordingly.
Outdated legacy software
The existing solution was underpinned by complex legacy code and architecture. We introduced a collaborative and risk-based delivery approach, focused on identifying critical functionalities and building cross-functional knowledge, which assisted us in ensuring that enhancements were successfully delivered.
"They grasped the detail of complex proprietary systems very quickly, adding value almost instantly."
Solution approach and outcome
Clarity in reporting, mitigation of risks
Our team arrived on the project and embedded a quality-focused governance approach across the delivery lifecycle – including stage gating and reporting – which provided a crystal clear snapshot on the project’s position, recommendations, associated risks, and agreed plans to resolve outstanding issues.
Another successful, on-time delivery
Despite the challenges, our experts achieved a quality-assured delivery within the timeframes set by the project sponsor. Our risk-based approach ensured that stakeholder confidence was met as early as possible, and although some minor issues remained, these were resolved as ‘work-off’ items shortly after the enhancements were delivered.
